Sonya Evanosky

In August 2012, Sonya accepted the position of Vice President of Finance and Strategy for Chamberlain College of Nursing, where she is responsible for strategic planning, new campus development and all financial functions.  In a two year timeframe, she led the opening of three campuses in three different states and supported overall revenue growth of 64%.

Prior to joining Chamberlain, Ms. Evanosky was the Vice President of Finance for Kaplan Higher Education where for two years she was responsible for strategic initiatives, financial reporting, and shared services.  Previous to Kaplan, Ms. Evanosky was employed as the Controller for HSBcs shared services division and led the planning, billing, accounting, and analysis functions. Her most significant accomplishment in that role was overseeing the successful merger of various shared services groups resulting in annual billing increases from $1.2 billion to $2 billion over a period of six months. Other roles during her six-year tenure at HSBC included leading IT financial planning and strategic initiatives, and serving as an IT relationship manager. Sonya also was employed as a consultant with A.T. Kearney in its Strategic Information Technology practice and worked with senior executives from Fortune 500 companies such as Sears, Case-New Holland, OfficeMax and EDS.  Additionally, she worked in the Finance and Shared Services divisions of ChevronTexaco.

Ms. Evanosky serves in leadership and volunteer roles as well.  She is the Treasurer of The Evanosky Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and advocating for children impacted by rare, terminal diseases.  Her most significant achievement in this arena has been the development and passage of newborn testing laws in Illinois, making it the first state in the nation to test for eight fatal childhood diseases.

Ms. Evanosky earned a B.S. degree in accounting from California State University-Sacramento and an MBA from the University of California-Davis in finance.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and holds a certified public accounting (CPA) certification as well as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.
